Individual membership is open to all members of the ESCMID and will be approved by the Executive Committee.
Corporate members are allowed and will be approved by the Executive Committee.
Application forms are available through and should be sent to the secretary of the ESGMD.
There are membership fees which are defined at the membership assemblies.
Executive Committee
The Executive Committee consists of at least a chairperson, a secretary, and a treasurer.
Additional members may be elected mainly to ensure better representation from the different European countries.
Members of the Executive Committee are elected for 2 years. The number of re-elections is not limited.
The Executive Committee will meet at regular intervals (as and when necessary) and is responsible for: a. organizing the membership meetings b. organizing scientific meetings in collaboration with local organizers c. defining joint projects e. raising funds for joint projects f. any activity of the Study Group
Activities of ESGMD
A general membership assembly will be held during each European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ECCMID), i.e. bi-annually. All elections for members of the Executive Committee will take place either at these meetings or by postal ballot. Also, changes in the statutes have to be approved at these meetings or by postal ballot (in addition to approval by the Executive Committee of ESCMID)
A scientific symposium will be organized at each ECCMID
If appropriate, the ESGMD will organize additional scientific meetings (annually, if possible). During such meetings there may be membership meetings during which decisions on all activities except those mentioned above can be taken.
Minutes of the membership meetings will be mailed to each member of the ESGMD.
