New ESCMID Study Group
ESGIAI is a newly formed ESCMID Study Group, which starts its activities in the field of implant-associated infections. The constitutional meeting was held at the 20th ECCMID in Vienna.
Planned Activities
- Promote experimental and clinical research projects (by networking, joint application for funding, scientific meetings)
- Foster exchange of clinical experience and dissemination new information between clinicians and researchers (by organizing educational workshops, consensus guidelines conferences)
- Disseminate innovative diagnostic methods on microbiology, imaging methods and host-based assays
- Establish cohort study (implant registry) of patients with various types of implants
- Develop guidelines on prevention, diagnosis and treatment of implant-associated infections
