Membership Guidelines
Members of the Study Group Executive Committee should be ESCMID members. Other individuals can join the Study Group as associated ESCMID members. Membership application should be submitted to the Executive Committee for approval. Wide representation from different European countries is sought. There are no membership fees at the present time.
Composition and Terms of Office of the Executive Committee
The Study Group should select three Executive Committee officers: a chairperson, a secretary and a treasurer. The officers are elected for a period of 2 years and the number of terms are limited to three. Elections by the Study Group members are held during the Study Group's general assembly at the annual ECCMID. The officers of the Executive Committee should be professionally active. The Executive Committee is responsible for coordination the activities, dissemination of information, organising meetings, receiving applications for membership and other relevant activities.
Added value to ESCMID
The potential is high in diagnostics of parasitic infections using molecular biological techniques in certain clinical situations and it is urgent. It is of interest for clinicians and microbiologists in Europe to take a lead of the development of this field.
Publication Strategy
The Study Group is strongly encouraged to publish the research findings in the Society´s journal Clinical Microbiology and Infection. Guidelines and Position Papers should also be published in the journal or in the name of ESCMID with an ISSN number. On each document, announcement and brochure published by the Study group, the ESCMID logo should appear.
Termination
The Study Group may be terminated either by a majority vote of members or by a decision of the ESCMID Executive Committee if there is a documented violation of the present guidelines. The remaining funds from the Study Group should be transferred to ESCMID to support further projects.
This Study Group has been founded as the ESCMID Study Group on Toxoplasmosis (ESGT) in 2003 and has been expanded to the field fo Clinical Parasitology (ESGCP) in 2007.
