Members of the Study Group Executive Committee should be ESCMID members. Other individuals can join the Study Group as associated ESCMID members. Membership application should be submitted to the Executive Committee for approval. Wide representation from different European countries is sought. There are currently no membership fees.
Executive Committee
The Study Group should select three Executive Committee officers: a chairperson, a secretary and a treasurer. The officers are elected for a period of 2 years and the number of terms are limited to three. Elections by the Study Group members are held during the Study Group’s general assembly at the annual ECCMID. The officers of the Executive Committee should be professionally active. The Executive Committee is responsible for coordinating activities, disseminating information, fund raising, organising meetings, receiving applications for membership and other relevant activities.
Activities
A general assembly should be held at each ECCMID. The elections for the Executive Committee should take place at the general assembly. A symposium or a workshop should take place at each ECCMID and the official language is English.
Publications
The Study Group is strongly encouraged to publish the research findings in the Society’s journal Clinical Microbiology and Infection. Guidelines and Position Papers should also be published in the journal or in the name of ESCMID with an ISSN number. The manuscripts should be submitted to both the Editor-in-Chief (for peer review) and the ESCMID Scientific Officer (for consistency with Society policy). On each document, announcement and brochure published by the Study Group, the ESCMID logo should appear.
Termination
The Study Group may be terminated either by a majority vote of members or by a decision of the ESCMID Executive Committee if there is a documented violation of the present guidelines. The remaining funds from the Study Group should be transferred to ESCMID to support further research projects.
