Current activities
Currently the TAE is collecting data from all CM and ID training programmes as well as getting in touch with as many trainees as possible. We plan to arrange for Observerships in other laboratories and hospitals.
TAE Steering Committee Election 2012
We are pleased to announce the results of the 2012 TAE SC election. The following candidates were elected by simple majority:
- Dusek, Davorka (ID), with 24 votes
- Maver, Polona (CM), with 27 votes
We congratulate the newly elected TAE SC members and welcome them to the TAE Steering Committee. We would also like to thank all candidates for their interest and active participation in the electoral procedure.

Call for Candidates in January 2012
In April 2012 two TAE Steering Committee (TAE SC) members will step down. The resulting vacancies for a four-year term (2012-2016) are to be filled with two new members who will be elected in February 2012. To nominate yourself for the election, please submit your online application from 10 January 2012 until 31 January 2012.
Next Trainees Day at ECCMID 2012

The next Trainees Day will take place in London on the afternoon of the 31st March. All trainees in Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases are strongly advised to attend this session which will see world renowned speakers covering the topics of antimicrobial dosing and tropical medicine from both an Infectious Diseases and a Clinical Microbiological perspective.

This newsletter is to inform you about the activities of our Trainee Association of ESCMID (TAE) and to stimulate you to participate in the TAE.
TAE SC met in Budapest
On 17-18 November 2011, the fifth meeting of the TAE Steering Committee members took place at the Semmelweis University in Budapest, Hungary.
Applications for the ESCMID Excellence Training Awards 2012 are now being accepted until 10 November 2011, 18.00h CET. We look forward to hearing from you.
The awards ceremony took place during the TAE Trainees Day at ECCMID/ICC 2011 in Milan. Four trainees received their awards for their achievements:
- Valentina Mazzocato, Rome, Italy
- Djin-Ye Oh, Berlin, Germany
- Hilmir Asgeirsson, Huddinge, Sweden
- Axel Hamprecht, Köln, Germany
TAE at ECCMID/ICC 2011 in Milan
The TAE Steering Committee members met at ECCMID/ICC for their fourth meeting.
For the first time and for all colleagues in training, TAE organised a Trainees Day on Saturday, 7 May 2011, a day of teaching dedicated to the unique needs of trainees. This event took place on the first day of ECCMID/ICC 2011 in Milan. Electronic handout*: download file

Third TAE SC in Rome
On 11-12 November 2010, the third TAE meeting took place in the Policlinico “A. Gemelli”, Rome, Italy.
TAE SC at ECCMID 2010 in Vienna
TAE Steering Committee members and representatives of the UEMS met at the ECCMID 2010 in Vienna.
Second TAE SC at General Hospital of Vienna
On 9 April 2010, the second TAE meeting took place in the General Hospital of Vienna.
First Meeting of TAE SC in Leiden
The Steering Committee first met from 24-25 November 2009 at the Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC). The programme consisted of a visit of the ER and Microbiological Laboratory of the LUMC, apart from the two-day meeting founding the TAE.
