Travel and Venue Information

Travel

By plane, you should travel to Innsbruck Kranebitten Airport (INN); group transfers between Innsbruck Airport and the Summer School venue are organised by ESCMID on 21 and 27 July 2012. These transfers are included in the fee.

As Innsbruck is not easily reachable from everywhere, you should consider alternative transportation. From Munich an airport taxi is available for EUR 48. Please book online.

By car it will take you about 1h 45 min from Munich, DE, 1h 50 min from Salzburg, AT and 3h from Zurich, CH.

By train, the connections are numerous and it will take you about 1h 50 min from Munich, DE, 1h 50 min from Salzburg, AT and 3h 30 min from Zurich, CH. For timetables and bookings please consult the Austrian Railways.

Venue

Medical University, Innsbruck, Austria

Accommodation

All participants will be staying at the Kolpinghouse in Innsbruck in single rooms. The rooms are simple but of good quality, with ensuite bathroom/toilet.

Participants will use public transportation to go from the Kolpinghouse to the venue - Busline O, Stops: Luis-Zuegg-Strasse  or Technik to Klinik (Universität), runs every 7 minutes. A one week transportation ticket is included in the registration fee.

Internet

Free W-LAN is available at the University. In the Kolpinghouse W-LAN is not available but internet can be accessed with powerline adapters available at the reception.

Meals

Breakfast at the Kolpinghouse and lunch at the University as well as coffee breaks are included. The evening meals are included only during the social events (on 21, 24 and 26 July 2012).

The Town

Innsbruck is located in the Inn Valley and the capital of the Austrian state of Tyrol. Its location in a broad valley between high mountains provides a beautiful backdrop for the Summer School.

Saturday, 21 July 2012: Welcome reception after the opening lecture "Management and prevention of malaria" by Erich Schmutzhard.

Tuseday, 24 July 2012: Afternoon excursion to the "Swarovski Kristallwelten" and Dinner.

Friday, 26 July 2012: Farewell Party

 

Summer School material

Educational Material will be available for participants from the end of June onwards on this website.

Programme
On the first day the Summer School material will also be distributed electronically, on a USB memory stick. Please note that there will be no printed handouts available. We recommend participants to bring their laptop computers.

After the Summer School all the presentations will be included in the ESCMID Online Lecture Library.
