In celebration of excellence and innovation in Clinical Microbiology (CM) and Infectious Diseases (ID), ESCMID honours the contributions made by researchers, clinicians, and other trailblazers in these fields. Distinguished awardees have the opportunity to deliver lectures at ESCMID Global and may even join the esteemed ranks of ESCMID Fellows.
Active senior experts in CM and ID, prepared to give a keynote lecture at ESCMID Global, are warmly invited to be nominated. Importantly, ESCMID membership is not a prerequisite, thus broadening the field for potential candidates. Please note that members of the ESCMID Executive Committee (EC) are not eligible for nomination during their term in office and for two years thereafter.

The ESCMID EC meticulously reviews all nominations to select the award winner. Notifications are sent to awardees in December, with the grand unveiling scheduled during the ESCMID Global welcome ceremony, in the presence of the ESCMID President. Additionally, a dedicated keynote lecture session is organised, giving the awardee the chance to deliver an inspiring 45 to 60-minute speech to the attendees.

The ESCMID Scientific Affairs Officer will then present and deliver the distinguished awards in person at ESCMID Global, during a special session. Each winner will be asked to give a 15 to 20-minute lecture on their main field of research to inspire attendees and ignite interest in their specialties. Success stories will also be shared across all ESCMID communication channels in celebration of their incredible contributions.

Please note that PhD candidates, MD consultants pursuing a second speciality in CM/ID, and TAE Steering Committee members are not eligible to apply.
The ESCMID TAE Steering Committee meticulously reviews applications, while the final approval rests with the ESCMID EC. Notifications regarding the outcome of the award selection process will be sent to recipients in December. Successful applicants will have their names proudly showcased on the ESCMID Global website and featured in other ESCMID publications, celebrating achievement on a global scale. The TAE Outstanding Trainee Award comes with a generous prize of 1K EUR, along with additional perks, which include coverage for travel expenses to ESCMID Global (up to 500 EUR), ESCMID Global registration fees, travel to the ESCMID Summer School (up to 500 EUR), Summer School registration fees, and accommodation. After the event, reimbursement of registration and travel expenses will be facilitated, upon submission of proof of attendance and expenses paid by the awardee.
