Purpose
The TAE Excellence Training Award is intended to recognize and reward outstanding trainees in Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases.
Funding
The awards of EUR 2'500 each, will be presented by the ESCMID President at the 22th ECCMID in London. We will select a maximum of four awardees in 2011 in either Clinical Microbiology or Infectious Disease specialties.
Selection criteria
Candidates will be selected based on the fulfilment of one or more of the following criteria:
- constant improvement of their personal education
- spending a period of their training in another country (international education)
- participation in project(s) for the improvement of educational training programmes within their discipline locally, nationally or internationally
- involvement in project(s) focused on collaboration between different disciplines for educational purposes
Eligibility criteria
- The applicants must be ESCMID members in good standing and should be born on or after 1 January 1972.
- The applicant must be registered in an accredited training programme which leads to specialisation in Clinical/Medical Microbiology, Infectious Diseases or other closely related specialties/subspecialties (proof of training status is necessary).
- Applicants for the award must be half or full time trainees. Full time PhD students and consultant re-training in CM or ID are ineligible
- Members of the ESCMID Executive Committee and TAE Steering Committee are ineligible.
What you need to apply
- CV and proof of the applicant's age
- Proof of training status
- Description of the candidate, her/his personal education and career, her/his professional interests and personal contributions to the various training projects/training-cooperation she or he has been participating in (see above selection criteria)
- Two letters of support from individuals (one from inside and one from outside the nominating institution)
- A color photograph in print quality (at least 4 x 6 cm with 300 dpi resolution)
Application procedure
The deadline to apply for the TAE Excellence Training Awards 2012 has expired.
The TAE Awards Subcommittee will select the awardees who will be notified of the decision by the end of February 2012 at the latest. Please refrain from inquiring on the status of your application before this date.
