The Society is registered in Germany with membership and administrative offices in both Munich and Basel. Founded in 1983, ESCMID now has some 4'100 regular members all over the world. Combined with its associated and affiliated memberships, ESCMID reaches out to over 33'000 professionals.  ESCMID has been an influential component in the professional lives of microbiologists and infectious disease specialists for more than 25 years and welcomes new colleagues from all nations.
