ESCMID/FEMS Conference on New Frontiers in Microbiology and Infection
This conference is held on an annual basis. It is designed to report on outstanding events in the field of microbiology and to meet the following objectives:
- Transfer knowledge between basic and clinical microbiologists as well as infectious disease specialists
- Focus and determine the state of the art on a particular field or theme by bringing together the best European and non-European scientists
- Give young scientists the opportunity to interact with senior scientists.
To stimulate and optimize the interactions, the conferences will include about 15 outstanding invited speakers together with just 60 participants selected on the basis of their scientific work and their interest in the chosen topic. Grants are available to help participants with financial difficulties.
Past conferences
Conference 2009: From microbial pathogenesis to the discovery of antivirulence drugs
This year the Conference on New Frontiers in Microbiology and Infection was held from 7 - 10 October 2009. This was the 5th edition of this joint activity between ESCMID and FEMS held this year in Les Diablerets (Switzerland), a wonderful place with a nice atmosphere to stimulate interaction between the invited speakers and about 50 young participants interested in the topic, since the main objective of this conference is to attract young scientists who want to hold in-depth discussions with senior scientists. The conference was stimulating in a relaxed atmosphere. We are looking forward to the next edition in 2010.
Target Audience
All scientists interested in the annual focus subject from virulence to clinical aspects are invited to attend. This conference is particularly geared to young scientists who want to discuss in depth with senior scientists.
Application Procedure
Please apply online at the conference website. Dates and tuition fees can be found there. The tuition fee includes the scientific sessions, printed conference material, meals and accommodation in shared double rooms, but not travel.
